  • Mouv’ Live Show, live radio show
  • Finale of End of The Weak battle and Sly Johnson
  • Wu Tang Clan

Le Mouv’ is a French public radio station, it belongs to the state. It claims to be the hip hop and electro radio. Every week the Mouv’ Live Show invites Soul, RnB, rap and electro artists. Backed up by the The Ice Kream – a 8 piece band – they offer new versions of their song. On Sunday 28th June, the season finale was held in a big auditorium of Maison de la radio (Radio House) and was dedicated to French rap with new generation artists but also old school ones. We enjoyed performances of Les Sages Poetes de la Rue, IAM, Disiz, Demi Portion and many more.

The second concert we went to was the French finale of the worldwide freestyle
competition “End of the Weak” followed by Sly Johnson’s performance. We enjoyed
the energy of the MCs and the vibe.

S
ly Johnson was probably our favourite MC during that trip, maybe because all the songs were in English. His performance was a wonderful blend of soul, rap and beatbox. Not to mention the amazing location.

Try to picture it: Paris docks right before sunset, a small wooden stage surrounded by the river, food trucks, people having picnic and chilling, a self expression blackboard, hundreds of hip hop lovers…

The Wu Tang Clan concert should have been the epitome of the festival if only half of the band did not decide not to come. At the entrance of the concert venue, a sign indicated that some of the main band members didn’t make it to Paris.

The concert  still happened but with a reduced band. Spectators had the choice between being reimbursed or going to the concert knowing that they woudn’t see Reakwon, Ghostface, Method Man, Rza. Only few purists refused to go to the concert.

The venue was full, everybody was jamming and jumping, screaming the lyrics. There was a really good atmosphere and great interaction between the band and the crowd.
